UPDATE 4:25 P.M.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation sent ABC 27 the following update on the situation:
On Monday, April 1, 2024, at approximately 9:35 a.m., Bainbridge Public Safety requested the GBI to assist with the death investigation of Markeith Miller (35 yoa) who was located deceased behind a residence in the 200 block of Simms Street in Bainbridge, Georgia. Miller lived in a residence in the 100 block of Simms Street, not where his body was located. An autopsy has been scheduled at the GBI Crime Lab on Friday to further aid in the cause of death.
Agens and a crime scene specialist arrived on scene and partnered with Bainbridge Public Safety Investigators, Deputies from the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office and began the investigation and scene processing. Evidence recovered from the scene will be analyzed and processed to aid investigators with the case. So far, the investigation has determined that Miller is a known resident in the area and known to frequent the area of Bainbridge where he was located.
This case is active and ongoing and anyone with information on this case is asked to call the GBI Thomasville Office at 229-225-4090 or Bainbridge Public Safety at 229-248-2038. Once complete, this case file will be turned over to the South Georgia Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

Bainbridge Public Safety confirmed a body was found Monday morning.
Officers told Bainbridge Neighborhood Reporter, AJ Douglas, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into what happened.
The investigation is happening in the northeast part of town in the area of Powell Street and North Sims Street. The investigation is impacting traffic flow in this area.
