UPDATED: Georgia State Patrol investigating hit-and-run crash near Bainbridge

Georgia State Patrol responded to our question asking for more details about the crash. Read their response below:

The following are preliminary details as the crash is still under investigation.

On Monday, July 8, 2024, at 3:19 pm, Troopers from Post 14 Colquitt responded to a two-vehicle crash on GA 1 at Zorn Road, in Decatur County. A Cadillac Escalade and a Honda Odyssey were both traveling south on GA 1, when the driver of the Escalade struck the rear of the Odyssey. The driver of the Escalade then left the scene but was later stopped by an Officer with the Bainbridge Police Department on Old Quincy Road. The driver of the Escalade was taken into custody for leaving the scene of an accident.

Multiple police vehicles could be seen blocking a portion of Old Quincy Road in Bainbridge Monday afternoon. Watch the video above for a closer look at the scene.

Bainbridge neighborhood reporter, AJ Douglas, found the scene in the 900 block of Old Quincy Road. This is near the intersection with West College Street.

A photo taken just before 3:30 p.m. showed multiple SUVs blocking the roadway. According to law enforcement, the situation involves a hit and run.
