"Peter Pan" gets a makeover as it becomes NBC’s newest live musical. NBC released a sneak peek of the live television event last Saturday.
From the producers who brought "The Sound of Music" back to life and into your living room last Christmas, the journey to Neverland is scheduled to take the air on Dec. 4 and stars Christopher Walken as Captain Hook and Allison Williams as Peter Pan.
"I have wanted to play Peter Pan since I was about 3 years old, so this is a dream come true," Williams said in a press release when the cast was introduced in August. "It's such an honor to be a part of this adventure, and I'm very excited to get to work with this extraordinarily talented team. And besides, what could go wrong in a live televised production with simultaneous flying, sword fighting and singing?"
The classic book by J.M. Barrie has been the subject of many movies including "Hook," "Finding Neverland" and next year’s “Pan” starring Hugh Jackman. The Broadway play has been performed for 60 years, and while NBC’s live broadcast will feature some of the staple songs, it will also feature new songs adapted from other Broadway productions.
