TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) — Every year, you can count on Brookwood in Thomasville for hosting several area and out of state girls and boys teams at their annual Thanksgiving Tip-off.
This year of course looks a little different with COVID-19 a threat to high school athletics. Chairs are wiped down after every game, and those chairs are staggered to create distance on the sideline. Masks are also required by every fan in attendance.
On the girls side, teams from Tennessee and North Carolina made the trip for the two day tournament. On the boys side, there's a lot of local flair, but more importantly, everyone was just excited to have hoops to play.
"We're excited for the season getting going here and getting some early season reps for the guys, especially this year," said Brookwood head boys basketball coach Drew Giudice. "We're very thankful to be able to play. A lot of tines, Coach Webb and I, our girls and boys teams have some good success and we play off of each other so. We're their biggest fans, and they're our our biggest fans and a lot of times, our parents will stick around for their games and vice versa. It's just fun all having our teams in the same place rooting each other on."
The Brookwood boys fell to Wakulla 50-49. The girls lost 54-25 to Covington out of Tennessee.
