AMELIA ISLAND, FL (#TALACC2014) -- The second season of the "Larry and Gary Show" was a fun session filled with innovation and emotion. The presentation focused on artistic and scientific research happening at Florida State University.

Larry Lynch, who works in the Office of Commercialization, and Dr. Gary Ostrander, the Vice President for Research, teamed up to highlight how research at Florida State brings money and new business into the Tallahassee area.

FSU research had a record high of $230,132,510 worth of funding last year. That is a $15 million increase from last year.

That money is being put into projects and companies that will be created and put into action in Tallahassee.

One example is the Quick-Pack which was created by Patrick Bresland, a business and engineering student at Florida State. The product was designed at the school and will be hitting the market place soon.

Another innovation, KynderMed, will help reduce the percentage of babies born prematurely. Dr. Olcese and other scientiests at FSU are developing glasses that reduce the likelihood of contractions. The glasses are still in the testing phase but they already have big plans to launch the product.

Larry and Gary also had some exciting announcements in their session.

The 6th annual Sneak Peak will be October 23rd and will feature award-winning films created by the FSU film school.

Innovation Park is looking at getting some new infrastructures as well. Plans are being drawn to add high tech facilities, that will include a wet lab, to focus on life sciences.

Research at Florida State is driving forward innovation and will continue to help make an economic impact in Leon County.
