JASPER, Fla. (WTXL) - Hamilton County High School is looking for a new head football coach.

WTXL learned Monday that Ric Whittington, who was hired in March, has resigned.

We reached out to Rex Mitchell, the superintendent of Hamilton County, who confirmed that the head football coach submitted his official resignation letter Tuesday morning.

No reason was given for his resignation.

Mitchell also confirmed to WTXL that the offensive and defensive coach submitted their resignations at the end of last week to pursue other opportunities.

Doug Clayton, an assistant coach for the school, will serve as interim head coach until a new one can be found. Mitchell says he put out an ad Tuesday morning for a new head coach and is confident they will find one shortly.

The Trojans will still have a football team this year and games and practices will continue as scheduled with Clayton running the show. They play Union County Friday in their kick-off game.

The high school's principal also resigned last week. You can read more about that here.
