TALLAHASSEE, FL (#WTXLDigital) - One of Tallahassee Memorial Hospital's first African-American physicians has had a long career since he came to Tallahassee in the 1950s.

Success can be measured in the amount of money or awards, but for Dr. A.D. Brickler, it can be measured in the amount of babies.

Dr. Brickler is a family physician at TMH who has delivered a whopping 30,000+ babies over the span of his career.

He has delivered a lot of Tallahasseeans - some pretty well-known ones too.

You know Charlie Ward? Former Heisman Trophy winning quarterback for Florida State who led the team to their first national championship in 1993? Dr. Brickler remembers the moment that Ward, who went to Thomasville High School, was born. He even remembers attending games when Ward was still throwing touchdown passes in the garnet and gold.

"We've had football players, Heisman winner Charlie Ward was one of my babies," Dr. Brickler replied. "When they were playing Georgia Tech up in Atlanta, the quarterback for Georgia Tech and Charlie Ward were playing each other and I delivered them both!"

They are just some of the few of that 30,000 who Dr. Brickler has delivered in Tallahassee.

That's a lot of babies, but how much is that compared to the population of the capital city?

The 2013 U.S. Census has Tallahassee's population at 186,411. If we assume that those 30,000 babies still live in Tallahassee, that means Dr. Brickler has delivered a little over 16 percent of the city's population.
