(WTXL) - The 4th annual WTXL Turkey Drive: "One More Family" is Thursday, November 16th.
Last year's Turkey Drive was amazing! Because of the generosity of the community, look at what we were able to do:
- Together we collected 305 turkeys
- We raised close to $17,500 dollars this year, up almost $7,000 year to year
- And equally important, through the turkeys and the money, “Second Harvest of the Big Bend” we were able to provide more than 73,000 meals! An increase of close to 30,000 meals year to year
This year, we’re asking folks to give just a little more to help one more family in our community.
When you go to get your turkey for your donation add another turkey to your basket. If you’re donating $25 dollars, add $5 more and round it up to $30 dollars. If everyone makes that extra effort this year, we can help even more families in need in the Big Bend have a great holiday!
We will be live on air and online from 5 in the morning until 6:30 at night. We're asking for your donations in the form of frozen turkeys, cash, and checks.
Together we can give just a little more this year to help one more family in our community.
The Turkey Drive started 4 years ago as a way to help reach out into our community and help. WTXL had done some small events with the Second Harvest of the Big Bend and this idea was a great way to help them on a larger scale.
Through the years, the event has gone from helping raise enough money and collect enough turkeys for close to 14,500 meals for families here in our area, to last year being able to provide over 73,000 meals.
ALL of the donations, from turkeys to cash to checks goes straight to the Second Harvest of the Big Bend.
