MADISON Co., FL (WTXL) - The Madison County Sheriff's Office says two are dead after a plane headed to the Tallahassee International Airport crashed in Madison County.

The two have been identified as Jamie Swiggart and Maitland Jane Harvey, according to deputies. The plane was traveling from Ocala to Tallahassee.

Authorities say Swiggart is a Navy Pilot although this plane was being flown privately, not for the military. Harvey is believed to be approximately 18-years-old.

Local officials were notified by the Federal Aviation Administration around 8:30p.m. Thursday night that the plane was missing.

According to local authorities, the plane was flying over Gadsden County when it notified air traffic controllers that there was low visibility.

The plane then sent out an emergency signal and shortly after it lost contact all together with control officials.

No word on how many passengers were aboard the aircraft at the time.
