LOWNDES COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL)--All lanes are now open in Lowndes County after a tractor trailer carrying beer catches fire on I-75.
Georgia State Patrol troopers say it happened around 1:45 Sunday afternoon south of exit five, near the welcome center. They say traffic was backed up for miles.
Troopers say it all started when the brakes of the semi heated up and caught fire. The driver was taken to the hospital. Kegs of beer reportedly exploded.
