TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee Police Department is investigating a break-in that took place overnight at The Patio Shop.
The Patio Shop, a local family owned and operated store on Capital Circle NW, contacted TPD after someone broke into their store overnight and essentially destroyed all their inventory.
Doug Walker, one of the owners of The Patio Shop, says more than $20,000 worth of damage was done, which is about 90 percent of their inventory.
Items brought in earlier during the week that cost around $3,000 were also damaged during the incident.
Walker stated they don't know at this time if they can continue their business because they don't have any insurance on the store.
"Right now we'll just have to clean up and inventory everything. I don't know," said Walker. "We don't have insurance to cover this kind of damage so I don't know exactly what our next plan is whether we can keep going or this maybe the end."
Walker says TPD will be using nearby store's security footage to try and track down the possible suspect(s).
The Patio Shop has been open since 1972.
