BLOUNTSTOWN, FL (WTXL) - Three people who were directly involved with Barbara Dawson, who died at Calhoun Liberty Hospital in December, have been fired, a hospital spokesperson said.

According to the hospital, nurses Karen Taylor and Jennifer Waldorff, along with EMT Brandon Drew Peacock, were all fired as of Friday. She said they each received a letter notifying them, and will be given 24 hours of severance pay and the opportunity to resign.

This comes after the December 21 death of 57-year-old Barbara Dawson, who died after being forcibly removed from the emergency room.

The hospital said that firing the three was a way for the hospital to move forward in addition to complying with requirements set by the Agency for Health Care Administration, or AHCA.

AHCA had twice rejected corrective action plans sent by the hospital after being cited for having 10 deficiencies.

They also had to meet certain AHCA requirements by March 1 or they would lose Medicaid benefits.

The hospital said they have completed the requirements to avoid losing those benefits, but are still being fined $500 per day as they finish reviewing over 4,500 patient files with the help of doctors from TMH.
