DECATUR CO., GA (WTXL) - Officers at Bainbridge High School, and other Decatur County schools, will now be equipped with tasers when the new school year starts.
The Decatur County School Board voted yes to tasers being carried by the five school officers. The board voted 4-2 with board members Keith Lyle and Winston Rollins being the two dissenting votes.
Chief Maurice Gaines of the Decatur School Police Department says these tasers are not meant for disciplinary use but instead are a safety measure.
Once the ordered tasers have arrived they will be put into use and will be ready for the start of the upcoming school year says board member Jacky Grubbs.
