TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Hitting the dance floor for a good cause is what more than 300 Chiles high school students were doing on Friday at the 4th annual Dance Marathon benefiting Children's Miracle Network hospitals.
Faculty and students joined together to raise money for Shands Children's Hospital and the College of Medicine at FSU.
WTXL spoke to one Chiles graduate who is also a cancer survivor after doctors gave him a terminal diagnosis.
Parker Fox was only two-years-old when he was diagnosed and treated at Shands hospital. He went into remission when he was 4.
Parker is now 19-years-old and says he wants his success story to inspire people to come out and support this cause.
He says the money earned buys medical equipment and funds research to help other families like Parker.
"Hearing other families stories and seeing other families, it's just a huge blessing because we fought our fight, they fought their fight and we're together and survivors. And they have their stories and we have our stories too so it's just amazing seeing how it has impacted them as well. It's just truly amazing," said Parker.
Miracle children, like Parker, are the driving force behind the dance marathon.
With over 300 dancers in attendance Chiles has doubled last year's turnout.
