TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The American Red Cross in Tallahassee needs more volunteers to get trained up to help out those who are leaving South Florida.

Mayor Andrew Gillum was there at the Capital Chapter Thursday to join in on the push for people to take a two hour abbreviated course on shelter training. The Red Cross is offering the course one more time at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, then again Friday at 9 a.m., noon and 5:30 p.m.

They also have a damage assessment course set for Saturday.

Sharon Tyler says they could add another shelter class for Saturday they are just waiting to see more about the path Irma will take.

Tyler says most of their volunteers are back from Texas from helping out with Harvey, but they always need more.
