TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee Police Department will be setting up a safety and sobriety checkpoint in Tallahassee.
They announced that the checkpoint will run from 11:30 p.m. until 3:30 a.m. and will be in the 3100 block of Thomasville Road.
After the checkpoint is finished, officers with the Leon County DUI Strike Force will be patrol the city to find impaired drivers.
DUI checkpoints are used for the purpose of detecting drivers who are too impaired to operate a motor vehicle, vehicles with faulty equipment, and those drivers operating a vehicle without a valid license.
The checkpoint will be well marked by signs, marked patrol cars, and officers.
TPD says operation is designed to have a minimal impact on traffic flow and to save lives.
