TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A man accused of shooting into the air at a parking lot crowded with hundreds of people attending FAMU homecoming events has been arrested.

Rontarius Pendleton was arrested and charged with firing a weapon in public, possession of a weapon/ammo by a convicted felon, and grand theft of a firearm.

According to an arrest document, Pendleton fired six or seven shots in the air in the Citi Trends parking lot at 2525 South Monroe Street.

Witnesses told police that Pendleton had fired the shots in the air with a black semiautomatic handgun, put the gun into his jeans when it jammed, and walked away laughing.

Police were able to arrest Pendleton, saying that he appeared intoxicated during the arrest and had trouble standing. Later, investigators found out the gun was stolen out of Tallahassee.
