TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Tallahassee man has bonded out on multiple charges after investigators discovered he was sharing child pornography on his Tumblr blog.
Jonathan Callahan, 43, was arrested on 14 counts related to child pornography and promotion of child pornography.
According to an arrest document, the Tallahassee Police Department received a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) on Dec. 26.
Investigators received several specific images as part of the tip and learned that the user who uploaded the images with the email address in question was likely Callahan.
Court documents say authorities in Alabama were originally investigating the case and found a Tumblr blog connected to Callahan's email. The blog, according to a Tumblr administration, contained images of child pornography.
A warrant was signed to search Callahan's home on Jan. 29, but he was away on business and expected to return on Feb. 2.
Documents say authorities seized electronics from Callahan's home and later met him at the airport where they seized two more cellphones and a laptop.
When investigators asked about the email address and Tumblr blog, Callahan acknowledged that both belonged to him. He stated that he had not uploaded many pictures, but did "reblog" numerous images. When asked how many of them contained sexual pictures of children, Callahan requested an attorney.
Based on the evidence, police arrested Callahan and charged him with one count of possession of child pornography with intent to promote because of all the images he "reblogged" on his Tumblr account. He is also being charged with 13 counts of possession of child pornography for the images associated with his email account.
Callahan was jailed on a $15,012 bond. He has since bonded out.
