COLQUITT COUNTY, GA (WTXL) - The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said they are investigating after a high school teacher, who has been accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student, was found dead.

GBI said that Jefferson and Thomas County Sheriff's Offices questioned 43-year-old Jermaine Walker days before he was found dead in Colquitt County.

They said that Walker was a language teacher at Jefferson County High. Multiple agencies were questioning Walker about reports that he was having an inappropriate relationship with a student. Police said that he denied the allegations.

The Friday Walker was found, Thomas county deputies got a warrant to search his home on Sweetwater Lakes Drive. A few hours after, someone called 911 saying that Walker was laying still next to his car on Glow Road.

Investigators said there was some evidence that his death was a suicide though they are still investigating and have not released an official cause of death.

An autopsy was scheduled for Monday.

GBI said that they are continuing to investigate and have asked anyone with information about Walker to call the GBI Thomasville Office at (229) 225-4090 or the Colquitt County Sheriff's Office at (229) 616-7466.
