PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Florida man has been arrested after he tried to exchange marijuana for food at a McDonald's drive-thru.

Anthony Gallagher, 23, was arrested by the Port St. Luice Police Department on Sunday.

Early Sunday morning, officers were called to a McDonald's, where employees said that Gallagher drove through the drive-thru trying to exchange a baggie of marijuana for food.

Workers refused and Gallagher drove off. PSLPD took the description of the Gallagher and remained in the area.

According to PSLPD, a short time later Gallagher went through the drive-thru of the McDonald's again.

Officers then made contact with Gallagher and noticed a heavy odor of marijuana coming from his car.

Officers found 11 grams of marijuana on Gallagher. He told officers that he did offer marijuana in exchange for food but that he did so as a joke.

Gallagher is being charged with possession of marijuana under 20 grams and DUI.

He was taken to the St. Lucie County Jail.
