THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL) - An attempted armed robbery in Thomasville did not go as planned when the intended victim pulled out her own gun and refused to hand over her purse to the would-be robber.

The Thomasville Police Department says the incident happened Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the parking lot of SunTrust Bank.

They have now released a sketch of the man believed to be involved.

Police say a black man pulled a gun on a woman who was leaving the bank and demanded she hand over her purse. She refused and presented her own gun. The suspect then ran away and left in his vehicle.

He is said to be a dark complected black male. He appeared to have low cut hair beneath his cap. His height and weight are unknown at this time.

His vehicle is described as a small silver SUV. He was last seen driving on the pathway between SunTrust and Lowe's in the direction of Smith Avenue.
