Pilot Killed in Mitchell County Plane Crash Identified

MITCHELL COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) - The pilot of a small plane killed after crashing in a field in Mitchell County has been identified.

Key Lime Air President Cliff Honeycutt said in a statement that Captain Lance McCaw died after crashing in a small field in Mitchell County near Camilla Monday night.

He said that McCaw was on his way from Panama City to Albany to deliver cargo for UPS when the accident happened.

Officials for the federal aviation administration said the accident happened around 10:20 p.m.

Only the McCaw was on board and no one else was injured.

Lance is survived by his wife and young son. The National Transportation Safety Board is now in charge of the investigation.
