PeaceJam Unites Youth With Nobel Peace Laureate

Tallahassee, Fla. (WTXL)--Students were jamming out this weekend over at Florida State University, but the party didn't really involve music. 

It's the peace jam, and it's all about inspiring a young leaders to transform themselves, their communities and ultimately the world, through world peace. 

The two day conference actually kicked off Saturday and continued Sunday with presentations and workshops teaching students ways they can help end poverty, racism, and hate even on a local level.

FSU students serve as PeaceJam coaches for Leon County students throughout the year and today was all about coming together to share what they've learned. 

Some pretty big names headlining the series thing week, including a woman known for her work as a peace advocate Rigoberta Menchú Tum.

She spoke to students this weekend on her experience as a nobel peace prize laureate.
