TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The CEO of Second Harvest of the Big Bend will be entering the race for city commission, seat 3.

Rick Minor made the announcement on Twitter Thursday afternoon.

Minor says he will "focus on reducing crime" and strengthening the community.

“I think I have a reputation for getting things done, and my work at the food bank, as well as with Local Business Saturday and Tallahassee Music Week, are good examples,” said Minor. “People want a Commissioner who is dedicated, reasonable and effective, and I'm going to be that type of Commissioner.”

The position is currently held by Nancy Miller, who declared that she will not be running for re-election.

Minor says he plans to file to run next week.

Gaines Street Pies owner Jeremy Matlow and William Schack, who is the director of food services at the Kearney Center, have already filed their paperwork to run for the position.

Minor is also the President and Co-Founder of KCCI’s Tallahassee Music Week, a local music festival that has hosted hundreds of local musicians in venues throughout the city.

He is also a former Chief of Staff to the Mayor’s Office at Tallahassee’s City Hall.
