GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - It's no secret that fishing is big around Gadsden county, and this weekend many people will be hoping for that big catch.

WTXL ABC 27's Jada Williams was live Friday morning with more on how those anglers are bringing in more money for the county.

Terry Richard is a tournament angler.

"It's gorgeous, the location is great, the people are great, there's always somewhere to hide out of the wind," he said.

You can usually find people reeling in a nice catch on Lake Talquin.

"Recreational fishing is all about going out to catch food for the table,"

Richard said.

But this isn't recreational

"That's our eyes under water."

It's the National Crappie Fishing Tournament.

When it comes to crappie tournament fishing it doesn't matter how many fish you catch. What's most important is how big your lucky catch is.

Mike Valentine said that "We've got teams coming down here from probably 13 or 14 different states."

Hosting it in Gadsden County is all a part of the county's plan to increase agritourism, inviting more people from across the world to see the natural splendor Gadsden has to offer.

The sport is so intense that the anglers find sponsors.

And it's bringing in money for Gadsden County.

The anglers will get ready to hit the water in a couple of hours.

The tournament ends Saturday.
