TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- The Tallahassee Police Department has released the names of those involved in the shooting that left two dead at a Tallahassee restaurant/bar.
The shooting happened just before 1 a.m. at El Patron Bar and Restaurant on Apalachee Parkway.
Officers say Ira L. Brown Jr. was the man shot and killed inside the restaurant and Dimitrie L. Penny died at an area hospital after being shot by Police Officer Jason Ravenel.
Ravenel was placed on paid administrative leave with Officer Edward Guerra who was also at the incident.
Two others were also injured during the altercation; Dionne V. Hardnett and Jaurice M. Hayes.
Police say they have set up a hotline for the incident, saying that the restaurant was "very busy" when the shootings took place.
Anyone who may have left the scene before talking to police is asked to call the hotline at (850) 891-4331. Those that wish to remain anonymous can call CrimeStoppers at (850) 574-TIPS.
According to authorities, Ravenel and Guerra were working in an off-duty capacity at the restaurant. Someone reported to them that there was a fight inside the bar. Shots were fired, and Brown was killed.
Police say the preliminary investigation shows the altercation then spilled out to the parking lot, where Hardnett and Hayes were shot.
That's when Ravenel fired his weapon at Penny. Penny was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
