TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - The man accused of murdering a 10-month-old child found dead with a snapped spinal cord, was in court on Wednesday.
According to court documents, Dajuan Barnes pleaded not guilty and asked for a jury trial.
Police documents say the child was running a fever when his mother went to the store to get him medicine on the night of his death.
Barnes called 911 after the child began throwing up, according to documents. The child was taken to the hospital where he later died.
When the medical examiner conducted the autopsy, documents say "...an extremely hard blow..." was dealt to the body of the infant.
The report said the medical examiner had never seen that severe an injury in his entire career.
