TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Tallahassee Police have arrested a man in connection with the shooting in the 2600 Block of North Monroe Street that left one suffering from injuries.
TPD says that they have arrested Nathaniel L. Griffin, 24, for the shooting. They say that Griffin was arrested in Gadsden County after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Police say the shooting happened early Friday morning in the 2600 Block of North Monroe Street. According to a probable cause document, they found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound in the upper leg.
According to the victim, he was in his friend's car, getting ready to leave a FAMU Homecoming event at "El Rancho Club" (2698 North Monroe Street) when he heard shots coming from the club.
The victim says the shots weren't targeted, but sounded like "spraying." The document says that the victim ducked down in his seat to avoid the gunshots, but later realized he had been shot.
The victim was later transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The report says another witness corroborated the victim's story, saying that her car had been hit by gun shots as well. She added that the shooting was unprovoked and that there were approximately seven people shooting after the main suspect started firing shots.
Documents say a witness was eventually able to identify one of the men seen representing ties to gangs in Havana inside the club as Griffin.
As a result of further investigation, Griffin was arrested and charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted Florida felon. He was previously imprisoned for lewd and lascivious battery in Gadsden County.
