TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- The grandmother accused of stabbing her grandson to death told deputies that the boy's mother "tortured" her for years, according to court documents.
The Probable Cause Affidavit for 63-year-old Martha White, paints a very chilling sequence of events.
The report states that White was at the Blue Ridge Trail home babysitting her two grandsons. 6-year-old Mason Rhinehart was playing video games with his 8-year-old brother when White said she had a surprise for both of them, according to court documents.
The 8-year-old brother told deputies that White took Mason into the bathroom and shut the door. According to the affidavit, moments later he said he heard his brother crying and saying, "I don't want to die, please don't kill me."
Court documents show that the 8-year old tried to open the door but it was locked. He then called his called his father and hid from White.
The brother told deputies that he saw White leaving the house holding a bottle of wine saying that she had a surprise for him too.
Deputies arrived on scene, but White had already left the house, they said. Her car was found at the dead end of Valley Creek Drive, about half a mile away from the crime scene, said deputies.
White was found in a small park nearby. Court documents said that she was covered in blood and was holding a wine bottle and Xanax.
According to the affidavit, White uttered that she had been tortured for years by the child's mother and that she was fed up. Deputies said that White also told them that the blood that was on her was her grandson's blood.
White was taken to the hospital for evaluation and then booked into the Leon County Jail for murder charges.
