TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Help continues for federal workers in our area even after the shutdown ends.

For the fourth time, the Second Harvest Food Bank returned to the Tallahassee International Airport with their mobile food pantry filled with free groceries for TSA and FAA employees.

It's just really gratifying to us, to see, to speak and continue to hear the stories of the employees that have been impacted by the government shutdown, and they continue to be really grateful to see us, and we're just so happy to be able to come and provide this extra assistance while they're going through this really stressful time," said Shari Hubbard, Director of Community Relations for Second Harvest.

Second Harvest's CEO Rick Minor said they will keep coming back until the lingering effects of the shutdown have ended.

While the Leon County Sheriff's Office and Farm Share teamed up again to help feed hungry families in the Big Bend.

The food giveaway was especially needed after the government shutdown. Thursday morning, they handed out about 40,000 pounds of food.

"I always get excited when I see fresh dairy, milk, yogurt. I also really liked seeing the collard greens that we have," said Emily Massau, Farm Share Event Coordinator. "It helps me know that we're feeding these families and their kids nutritious food."

The partnership between LCSO and Farm Share will continue, but a date for the next food distribution has not been set.
