VFD responds to overnight tractor trailer fire

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) — The Valdosta Fire Department is currently investigating an overnight tractor trailer fire that occurred on Friday.

According to authorities, crews responded to the report of a tractor trailer fire at the intersection of East Central Avenue and North Lee Street on Friday morning.

VFD says the call came in at 12:32 a.m. Responding crews arrived on scene within several minutes to find a tractor trailer that was carrying bales of pine straw on fire.

Within minutes crews had majority of the fire under control.

VFD says it took crews several hours to unload the trailer and do a thorough check of its contents.

More than 700 bales of pine straw had to be unloaded from the trailer by fire personnel.

The fire was extinguished and all units cleared the incident at 5:50 a.m., according to VFD.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
