TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - As summer winds down, the back to school shopping is in full swing.
One church spent the day taking some of the burden off parents.
The Church of God by Faith in Tallahassee gave out backpacks stuffed with school supplies to children ranging from pre-school to high school.
The pastor tells us they gave away more than 400 bags.
"I had the opportunity to greet and talk to and find the difference in so many. The response from them, the conversation with their kids. That's what I'm really focused on, is the children," said Napoleon Jean, Tallahassee Church of God Pastor. "If we could catch them early enough and work with them early enough to guide them and give them direction to the right path."
The church partnered with other organizations like Florida State University football, Big Bend Cares, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission to help get families prepared.
