TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- Floridians will be able to register to vote online, starting in October 2017.
Governor Rick Scott signed a bill Friday that allows residents to register and update their voting information online, rather than sending paper forms to a county election office.
In a letter to Florida's Secretary of State, Scott cautioned that cyber security is a concern he has, but nonetheless supports the bill.
"We must do everything possible to encourage 100 percent participation in elections, with zero percent fraud," Scott said.
Florida joins 26 other states that have either implemented or passed legislation to create online voter registration systems, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.
