TALLAHASSEE, Fla.(WTXL)- Beginning this school year the words "In God We Trust" must be posted somewhere on the campus of every school in the state of Florida.

The words appear on the Florida Flag and seal. However, now you'll also see the U.S. motto at every school across the Sunshine State.

According to Leon County School District, many of the schools in the district already display the Florida flag or otherwise display the motto.

However, many people are divided on whether this is necessary.

"'In God We Trust' is a very positive message,"said Bethel Christian Academy Chancellor Reverend R.B. Holmes. "It does enhance one's morality or self esteem so I think it's a good thing," said Holmes.

"Spending time on this is ridiculous," said Leon High School parent Beth Overholt. "The flag is up at every single school. That's all, we can just put it up it's on the flag let's move on," said Overholt.

While many educators, parents and others have different opinions about this law. Some people agree the law inspires hope instead of pushing religion.

"You're not trying to demand a person believe a certain way, it's a sign of hope," said Holmes.

"There is nothing wrong with having it up, I just think they're are more education issues that we need to talk about," said Overholt.

According to Leon High School, they will meet with student leaders after the school year begins and will decide how they want to display the U.S. motto on their campus.
