TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- At FAMU, students are getting the chance to get their passport applications processed, for free.

Passport agents have been on campus to help process the applications.

All fees for the applications are being covered by the Office of the President at FAMU.

The university started the passport program to encourage global travel among students and enrollment in study abroad programs.

Students say the waived application fees have a big impact.

"I have big traveling plans, so any saving of money that I can do, it's a blessing. I'm really thankful," said graduate pharmacology student Gilda Brown.

"It allows people to get out and see the world and lets them have experiences that they weren't going to have necessarily," said physical therapy student Schae Black.

"This definitely means a lot for them to cover it, just to make sure in the event a study abroad opportunity comes about, that FAMU students especially are able to attend," said physical therapy student Angela Akah.

Passport agents will be processing the applications from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday in the School of Business and Industry.
