TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Police said they used a fake ad to arrest a man for attempting to seduce underage children online.
Tallahassee Police Department said that they arrested 53-year-old Stan Greer Friday morning for using a computer to seduce a child and solicit the parent's consent to do so.
Police said that on July 22nd, they put up a fake ad on a website to catch people who were using the site to solicit minors for sex. Almost a month later, Greer responded to the ad.
He believed that he was communicating with a father in a family and began asking about the other members in the family in a sexual manner according to a probable cause document. He was told the "family' consisted of a wife, a 14-year-old girl, and a 10-year-old boy.
Police said that Greer also replied to another ad they put up a few days after he responded to the first one. Over the next two days, police said Greer persistently expressed a desire to have sex with the made-up female child.
On Aug.30th, the undercover "family" and Greer were scheduled to meet up, however, he backed out at the last minute and contacted the "family" very little.
Police said they traced the email Greer was using on the website back to him and got a warrant to search his home. Friday, TPD went to his home on Conservancy Drive and forced entry.
Though Greer was not there at the time they forced entry into his home, they later arrested him and transported him to the Leon County Jail.
