TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - The inmate that escaped from Liberty County on Sunday has been captured in Tallahassee.
According to the Liberty County Sheriff's Office, Everett Jedadiah Ellis was captured in downtown Tallahassee near Tennessee Street and Woodward around 10 a.m. Wednesday.
They say Ellis had escaped from the second floor of the Liberty County Jail on Sunday after kicking out an air conditioning unit, crawling through the duct work, and then climbing onto the roof of one of the buildings.
Liberty County Deputies say a citizen in Tallahassee recognized Ellis and contact Tallahassee Police in addition to informing a nearby parking enforcement officer that Ellis was there.
Police are said to have confirmed Ellis' identity and taken him into custody without incident. Deputies add that Ellis appeared to be tired after having walked from Liberty County into the city.
Ellis was serving an 11 month, 29 day sentence in the jail for drug possession charges and indecent exposure, according the Liberty County Sheriff's Office. Deputies say he only had a couple months left before he would have been released.
Charges of escape and felony criminal mischief are expected to be added.
