TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Tallahassee police is joining the nation in this year's National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday.

TPD says that they will be partnering with the DEA to make this day a success for community members.

If you have unused or expired prescription medications, please join us at TPD Headquarters, located at 234 East Seventh Avenue on April 29, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Officers from the Tallahassee Police Department will assist participants in the proper disposal of these dangerous drugs.

If you are unable to participate on the day of the event, you are encouraged to dispose of prescription medication 24 hours a day 7 days a week in the TPD lobby drug disposal bin.

Police say that anyone wishing to use the bin can simply bring their expired or unwanted medication in a suitable container and place the drugs into the bin.

Due to hygiene and health concerns, the bin will not accept liquids, needles or razors. The medication will be safely destroyed by Police personnel.
