1 dead in Moultrie wreck

MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) - A woman from Jacksonville, Florida was killed and her daughter critically injured, in a crash with a semi-truck Friday afternoon in Moultrie.

Just after 4 p.m. in the 2100 block of Highway 133, Shelia Alston, 42, was killed when the pickup truck she was a passenger in, collided with a semi-truck carrying a load of lumber. Coroner Verlyn Brock says Alston was trapped inside the vehicle.

Her 22-year-old daughter was driving. She was transported to Archbold Hospital in Thomasville in critical condition.

The Coroner says Alston had visited her mother and was headed back to Florida.

The Georgia State Patrol's Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team was called to the scene.

MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) - One person is dead after a wreck in Moultrie on Highway 133 near Sylvester Highway.

Our partners at The Moultrie Observer report that a log truck collided with a small car shortly after 4 p.m. Several logs were scattered around the area.

Colquitt County Coroner Verlyn Brock said one person died and a second person was taken to a hospital.
