TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Leon County Commissioner John Dailey has officially put his name in the race for Tallahassee mayor.
Monday morning, he filed paperwork with the Leon County Supervisor of Elections Office.
The county commissioner joins Erik David and Joe West as the only candidates on the ballot right now.
Dailey was elected to the District 3 seat in 2006. His decision to run for mayor now leaves an opening for his seat on the county commission.
"I love this city and I am a product of the city of Tallahassee. I think our community wants a mayor that everybody can rally behind," said Dailey. "I want to be that leader that reminds us of the amazing things here in Tallahassee, the potential and I want to help write the next chapter."
Dailey filed to run for a fourth term to the District 3 seat in February before announcing his candidacy for mayor.
The latest update from the Leon County Supervisor of Elections office shows no one has filed to run for the now-open county commission seat yet.
