SNEADS, Fla. (WTXL) - A Florida Department of Corrections officer has been arrested, accused of bringing marijuana and cigarillos into a state prison in Jackson County.
Alexandria T. Trask, 25, of Quincy is charged with introducing contraband into a state correctional institution and possession of cannabis.
She brought 14 grams of marijuana and 27 cigarillos into the Apalachee Correctional Institution East Unit grounds on April 20, 2018, "and did surpass detection into the secure facility," according to an affidavit-complaint.
The document said the contraband was found when another officer relieved Trask of her post so Trask could take an emergency phone call. The other officer reportedly noticed a "Stouffer's" lasagna box with tissue paper coming out of the box, which was near Trask's personal belongings.
A captain the officer informed about the box contacted an inspector, who investigated and took photographs of the box and Trask's personal cellphone and opened the box in Trask's presence.
Trask invoked her rights and refused to answer questions about the incident without an attorney present.
A search of Trasks's car turned up 31 more cigarillos.
Trask was transported to the Jackson County Jail, an FDOC news release said.
