(WTXL) - The house selected a committee spent several hours discussing a series of issues related to hurricane Irma.

These included agricultural impacts, state expenditures for the storm and issues surrounding the post-Irma debris removal process.

Several committee members said Thursday the month-old damage estimates made by the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Service are too low.

Those estimates project losses of more than 2.5 billion dollars.

Department of Agriculture Legislative Affairs Director Grace Lovett says all AG industries have been impacted in Florida, including fresh produce.

In an estimate of damages from early October, the State Department of Agriculture projected citrus losses at 761 million dollars from hurricane Irma, followed by the nursery industry at more than 600 million.
