TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Even though Greek life was indefinitely suspended on the campus of Florida State University after the death of a fraternity pledge, officer elections can continue.
According to officials, the following exceptions were effective as of November 16:
- Each of FSU’s four Greek governing councils may host council meetings with the council advisor(s) present.
- Each council may conduct council executive board elections with the council advisor(s) present.
- Chapters may conduct chapter meetings for the rest of the fall semester with a chapter advisor or university staff member present. Chapter meetings may occur through the last day of classes, Friday, December 8, 2017.
Chapters may also hold officer elections with approval from the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life. Officials say the chapter advisor or university staff must be present during all meetings and elections.
Prior to chapter elections, however, each organization electing new officers must submit a detailed transition plan.
