PORTOFINO SHORES, Fla. (WTXL) -  Authorities believe they may have found the body of a former FSU student in a Florida lake.

The St. Lucie Sheriff's Office says that they found a body floating in a lake at Portifino Shores and say they are presuming that the body is that of John Kim.

The body was found across the street from a bar Kim was last spotted leaving at 12:45 a.m.

While deputies are not officially declaring that they have found Kim's body, they say that, so far, evidence seems to be affirming their assumptions.

Deputies said that the missing person report for John Kim came in on Monday. They say that "numerous volunteers" canvassed the neighborhood looking for him.

The Sheriff's Office has not declared foul play, though it has not been completely ruled out.

The FSU College Republicans shared a post expressing their condolences on Facebook:

Florida State University confirmed that Kim graduated from the school in 2015 as a double major in science and political history.
