GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - The body of the man who disappeared while taking a swim in the Ochlockonee River has been found.

Authorities have identified the man as James Morgan of Havana.

His body was recovered around 11:45 a.m. on Friday by a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officer.

The exact location of the body's recovery was unknown, though the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office says the body was found about 75 yards from where he was last seen.

The discovery ended the three day search efforts by the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office, the Leon County Sheriff’s Office dive team and the FWC's dive team. An autopsy will be conducted on Saturday.

GCSO says it will continue their death investigation of Morgan.

"We want to also send our condolences to the family at this time, we understand that a loss can be difficult but we definitely want to thank these teams for the work that they've done," said Ulysses Jenkins, Public Information Officer for GCSO.

Friends and family are planning a memorial for him at the Iron Bridge at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) -  An active search is still underway in Gadsden County for a person who disappeared while taking a swim in the Ochlockonee River.

Wednesday night, a group of friends were swimming when an older man tried to cross the Ochlockonee River. Witnesses say that the current was very strong and that one minute the man was there, the next he was not.

Search and rescue teams were there Wednesday night until 12 a.m. and continued to search until daylight and are still going.

Rescue efforts include dive teams as well as boats and helicopters. There's also a search and response team using cadaver dogs in the efforts as well to search from the water.

We spoke with one of the friends of the missing man, who says they are still hopeful for his safe return.

"We just sitting here swimming having a good time, it's hot and when I turned my back, I ain't seen him and maybe he'd be okay," said Stanley Clark, who says he's friend of the missing person.

The Gadsden County Sheriff's Office is not releasing the missing man's name at this point.
