TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- It's back to school week here on WTXL Sunrise, and we're talking about buying the and wear the right backpack.
Occupational therapist Darlene Wingard and first grader Isaiah Wingard stopped by for some advice all parents should follow.
Darlene says backpacks are not one size fits all; you should look at the size and age of the student to determine which backpack fit is best.
The weight of a backpack should be no more than 10-percent than a student's weight.
The best bags are those with two straps and should sit about four inches above the bottom of your back.
Check out the video to see what else Darlene has to say about backpack safety.
