TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)-- The victim of a Wednesday afternoon shooting at a Tallahassee apartment complex dies. Friends and family remember 29-year-old David Queen as an ideal family man.

Tallahassee police responded to the Plantation at Pine Lakes Apartment Homes after reports of shots ringing out in the usually quiet neighborhood. When officers arrived, a man was found in the community's parking lot suffering from what appeared to be a gun shot wound.

According to police, an altercation at the mailboxes turned violent when Queen was shot in the parking lot.

A native of the Miami-metro area, Queen relocated to Tallahassee to be close to his daughter. His friend Ken "Kenzer" Obando said, "He was all about his family, friends, and his daughter. It was only good vibes when you were around Dave."

Queen was also close friends with FSU running back turned NFL Atlanta Falcon, Devonta Freeman. After learning of his death, Freeman took to social media to grieve over Queen's death.

Freeman posted several pictures on his Instagram account saying, "I love you. R.I.P Dave."

Queen's shooter was detained by Tallahassee police; however, at this time he is not facing any charges related to the incident.

Plantation at Pine Lakes Apartment Homes is scheduling a community meeting next week to tell residents how the neighborhood will proceed following Wednesday's shooting.
