Alzheimer's Awareness: Respite Care

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- September is Alzheimer's Awareness Month, and every Tuesday, WTXL Sunrise is talking about some important information about the disease.

The Alzheimer's Project offers respite care each week. The idea behind it is using socialization and group activities to keep the clients remain active.

Respite activities during the day include: arts and crafts, music therapy, pet therapy, chair yoga, games and much more.

Here's a glance of the respite care schedule:

- Killearn United Methodist Church*: Every Monday 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

- Good Shepherd Catholic Church (Spanish-speaking clients): 2nd and 4th Tuesday 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

- Saint Paul's UMC* (Spanish Speaking Clients): 1st, 3rd and 5th Tuesdays 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

- Temple Israel*: Every Wednesday 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

- Bethel A.M.E. Church: Every Thursday 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

- Saint Paul's UMC: Every Friday 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

- Lake Ellen Baptist Church (Medart, FL): Every Monday 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

- Thomas Memorial Baptist Church (Quincy, FL): Every Thursday 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

*Reservation required for all Leon County programs. Call office on Friday after 12 pm to reserve your spot for the following week.
